Ubuntu GNOME 16.04.1 LTS Released, but Still Doesn't Uses the GNOME 3.20 Stack

As we reported last week, Canonical published the first point release of its long-term supported Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) operating system, offering users new installation mediums with all the updates made available since April 21, 2016.

The Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS update brought new releases of all the officially supported flavors, including, but not limited to, Ubuntu MATE 16.04.1 LTS, Xubuntu 16.04.1 LTS, and Ubuntu GNOME 16.04.1 LTS, about which we would like to tell you a few words on this article.

First off, Ubuntu GNOME 16.04.1 LTS has been made available, as expected, only for those who want to either upgrade from a previous release, such as Ubuntu GNOME 15.10, which will reach end of life in a few days, or deploy the GNU/Linux operating system on new computers.
