Tails 2.5 Anonymous Live CD Released with Tor Browser 6.0.3 and Icedove 45.1

Today, August 2, 2016, the development team behind Tails, the amnesic incognito live Linux operating system based on Debian GNU/Linux, has proudly announced the release of Tails 2.5.

Tails 2.5 is a bugfix release that has been in development for the past two months and updates various core components to make sure that your privacy and anonymity are always 100% guaranteed when you stay online. Therefore, today’s Tails update comes with the Tor Browser 6.0.3, which is based on Mozilla Firefox 45.3, and Icedove 45.1.

The new Icedove version fixes the “The message could not be sent using Outgoing server (SMTP) mail.riseup.net for an unknown reason” error that prompted users when attempting to send an email, as well as a bogus error message that was displayed when creating a new email account, and an issues with the automatic account configuration when attempting to connect to certain email providers.
