Calibre 2.59 Has Better EPUB 3 Support, Amazon Metadata Download Improvements

Today, June 17, 2016, Calibre developer Kovid Goyal proudly announced the release and general availability of the Calibre 2.59 update of the open-source and cross-platform ebook library management software.

Calibre 2.59 arrives after only one week from the release of Calibre 2.58, the previous point release that added compatibility with the latest Qt 5.x technologies (Qt 5.5 or later) on the Ubuntu Linux operating systems. And it looks like it introduces several improvements for the Amazon Metadata Download functionality.

The first one is the ability to automatically download the entire series information as soon as amazon.com makes it available. The second new feature for Calibre’s Amazon Metadata Download support is the ability to detect common patterns of embedding the name of the series after the title, and then automatically delete it.
