AMD Rolls Out AMDGPU-PRO 16.50 Graphics Driver for Linux to Support More GPUs

Today, December 8, 2016, AMD announced the general availability for download of the latest AMDGPU-PRO 16.50 proprietary graphics driver for Linux-based operating systems.

Shipping with FreeSync support and DirectGMA for OpenGL, the AMDGPU-PRO 16.50 graphics driver provides support for some GNC 1.0 GPUs from the Southern Islands series, namely AMD Radeon R7 M465X, AMD Radeon R7 M370, and AMD Radeon R7 M350.

Additionally, the AMDGPU-PRO 16.50 graphics driver includes install scripts for the recently released Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3, CentOS 7.3, CentOS 6.8, and SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 12 Service Pack 2, and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 Service Pack 2 operating systems.

Supported features and GNU/Linux distributions

AMDGPU-PRO 16.50 provides support for the OpenGL 4.5, GLX 1.4, OpenCL 1.2, Vulkan 1.0, VDPAU APIs, as well as Vulkan support for the Dota 2 video game. It bundles basic display and power management features, a GPL-compliant … (read more)
