We just received an email announcement from Canonical’s Adam Conrad where he informs the Ubuntu community that the Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) operating system will reach end of life later this month, on July 20, 2017.

Some of you out there were aware of the fact that their Ubuntu 16.10 operating system will reach end of life sometime in July, but now the date was set in stone, 20 July 2017. That’s only a little over two weeks from the moment of writing, so you shall start the upgrade process to a newer, supported version of Ubuntu Linux.

“Ubuntu announced its 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) release almost 9 months ago, on October 13, 2016.  As a non-LTS release, 16.10 has a 9-month support cycle and, as such, the support period is now nearing its end and Ubuntu 16.10 will reach end of life on Thursday, July 20th,” says Adam Conrad in the email announcement.
