OpenMandriva: We Are the Only GNU/Linux Distro to Use Clang as the Main Compiler

Softpedia has been informed by the OpenMandriva Team that the upcoming OpenMandriva Lx3 GNU/Linux operating system will use the LLVM Clang compiler by default.

In a very short blog announcement published on May 12, 2016, on the project’s homepage, OpenMandriva contributor Jean-Claude Vanier brags with the fact that OpenMandriva is currently the only Linux kernel-based distribution that uses Clang as main compiler instead of the well-known GCC (GNU Compiler Collection).

“OpenMandriva is currently the only distribution that uses Clang as main compiler,” said Jean-Claude Vanier, OpenMandriva Lx moderator and contributor. “Though there is no clear difference between both compilers, that proves, at least, that we are not wrong using it.”
