Hello everyone, how are you? I hope you are all doing great so far in 2019. On this post, we have listed the 5 best Ubuntu themes for 18.04 LTS but of course, if you have another version of Ubuntu or another Debian based Linux, most if not all of all these themes will work just fine. If you have older versions of Ubuntu up to 16.04, these things will also work just fine.

Today we will rank the best of the best Ubuntu themes to start your new life with Ubuntu 18.04 and above. These themes are all certified pure and fresh, meaning they will not slow down your system or make any crazy changes to your system, they will simply do their job and make sure you like what you see every time you wake up to use your computer. We have a mixture of Gnome and GTK themes. If you want us to remove/add or update something on this page, please contact us. Enjoy.

NOTE: You can now download the best themes for 20.04 LTS

Top Ubuntu Themes

#1. Adapta Theme

Adapta is a theme that features two themes packaged together. Adapta and Adapta-Nokto. Adapta has a Light or Dark theme for GTK and Budgie-Desktop. If you are using Gnome or Cinnamon there is a Light variant theme. This was placed as the #1 theme because of it’s constant updates and it is one of the most popular themes ever on any Linux OS. I mean, look at it, if you have never tried it, try it.

#2. Paper Theme

Paper is a modern Linux desktop theme suite with a mostly flat with a subtle use of shadows and highlights for some added depth. Plus the colourful headers are designed to make Paper stand out among the many themes available for Linux desktops. It is perfect for those of you who love flat material theme with a little bit of Google flavor in there. We have more paper theme screenshots.

#3. Numix Theme

Numix is a modern flat theme with a combination of light and dark elements. It also supports Gnome, Unity, XFCE and Openbox. This is an underrated theme that almost made it as the #1 theme on the list, certainly it was almost #2, but we placed it third because unlike the top two themes we have listed, this theme requires an extra step to install the official Numix icons. I know that’s being a bit picky and petty but…

Numix theme Installation Instructions:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:numix/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install numix-gtk-theme numix-icon-theme-circle

#4. Apple Arc OSX

Apple Arc OSX theme makes your Linux desktop look like the latest MacOS, much like High Sierra. It even has the famous apple dock that sits at the bottom and if you combine it with the latest icons, you might even forget you are using an Ubuntu OS. Apple Arc OSX has transparent elements, great folder icons, it’s smooth and everything is just high quality down right to the boot screen. We could have placed this theme much higher but my pride as a Linux user wouldn’t allow me, either way, this is a beatiful theme.

#5. Vimix GTK Theme

Vimix is a flat Material Design theme for GTK 3, GTK 2 and Gnome-Shell which supports GTK 3 and GTK 2 based desktop environments like Gnome, Unity, Budgie, Pantheon, XFCE, Mate, etc.

Vimix is available in both light and dark styles, each available in 3 colours: a green/grey¹, ruby (red), and doder (blue). Also, don’t worry about the language you see in the screenshot above, the language displayed will be based on whatever language you currently use on your computer now.
