ROSA Labs is pleased to announce the availability of an LXQt edition of the recently released ROSA R9 GNU/Linux operating system, which can run on older computers with only 512 MB of RAM.

According to the announcement (in Russian), ROSA R9 “LXQt” is the easiest and ascetic flavor of the Mandriva forked ROSA distribution. It is built around the latest LXQt 0.11 desktop environment and was specifically designed for old computers, especially netbooks, that come with only 512 MB of RAM (system memory).

“Happy to present you a new ROSA Linux on the R9 platform – this time with the light-easy LXQt,” said the devs. “In this release we tried to make a system that works even on computers with 512 MB of memory. Simply LXQt, without effects, only light programs in the kit – but we did not forget about the functionality.”
