Ubuntu 13.10 (Saucy Salamander) was released on 17 October 2013 and its support will be going to end after July 2014.

Now is the time to upgrade to Ubuntu 14.04 (Trusty Tahr) LTS!

If you are an Ubuntu lover and want to give a try to Ubuntu 14.04, you can grab ISO images and install it via USB. If you are using Ubuntu 13.10 and want to upgrade to Ubuntu 14.04 release, you can follow below simple instructions.

 Warning: Please backup your important data/files. If you have a USB disk, flash, CD, external hard drive, Secondary computer or simply cloud hosting(example: google drive), any of these listed resources make a good backup option.

Step by Step How to Upgrade Ubuntu 13.10 to 14.04 In 3 Steps

  1. Launch the Software Updater
    Press the Superkey (Windows key) to launch the Dash and search for Update Manager.
  2. Check for latest updates
    Click the Check button to check for new updates. If there are any updates to install, use the Install Updates button to install them, press Check again after that first update is complete — then press the Upgrade button.
  3. DONE! Install the upgrade
    A message will appear informing you of the availability of the new release. Click Upgrade and follow the on-screen instructions.
