About the Ubuntu Studio 26.04 Wallpapers
Ubuntu Studio takes a different approach to wallpapers than most other Ubuntu flavors. There is no annual design contest and no abstract digital art. Instead, the team maintains a running archive – one that has grown release by release since Ubuntu Studio first launched in 2007. Every wallpaper ever shipped is carried forward, so the full collection lands on your desktop from day one.
The 26.04 pack contains 84 wallpapers in total. Thirty are branded Ubuntu Studio identity artworks, one per release going all the way back to 07.10, each rendered in the aubergine purple palette the project has used since its early years. Forty-three are community-submitted designs from previous LTS wallpaper contests – 12.04, 16.04, 18.10, 20.04, and 24.04 – credited to their original artists. The eleven new additions for 26.04 Resolute are all photographs: real gear from real creative environments, covering audio production, video editing, and digital photography. Every image is packaged in the KDE Plasma multi-resolution format, from 640×480 up to 4096×4096, in PNG.

The complete Ubuntu Studio wallpaper archive. 84 wallpapers covering every release from Ubuntu Studio 07.10 through 26.04 Resolute – 30 branded identity artworks, 43 community-submitted designs from previous LTS cycles, and 11 new creative-industry photographs from the 26.04 release. Ubuntu Studio 26.04 uses KDE Plasma 6.6 on Wayland. Setting a wallpaper is straightforward through the desktop right-click menu or System Settings.
Method 1 – Right-click the desktop (quickest)
1. Download the wallpaper file and save it somewhere on your computer.
2. Right-click anywhere on an empty area of the desktop.
3. Select Configure Desktop and Wallpaper.
4. Click Add Image, navigate to your downloaded wallpaper file, select it, and click Apply. The wallpaper updates immediately.
Method 2 – System Settings (more options)
1. Open System Settings from the application launcher or the panel.
2. Go to Wallpaper (under Appearance and Style).
3. Click Add Image and navigate to your downloaded file. Select it and click Apply.
4. You can also set the scaling mode from the same panel. Scaled and Cropped fills the screen without distortion for most wallpapers. Centered works well for the branded artwork pieces.
Set a different login screen wallpaper
Ubuntu Studio 26.04 uses SDDM as the login manager. You can customise the login screen wallpaper separately under System Settings – Startup and Shutdown – Login Screen (SDDM). The SDDM theme and the desktop wallpaper are independent of each other.
